Join legendary author and five-time Coretta Scott King Award-winner Sharon Draper to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this landmark book award that honors “outstanding African American authors and illustrators of books for children and young adults that demonstrate an appreciation of African American culture and universal human values.” Draper will talk about her incredible career as a writer and the impact the Award has had on her. She will also lead a short writing exercise with attendees, answer audience questions, and sign books. Don’t miss this chance to meet and write with a literary giant!

This event is produced in partnership with the American Library Association and their Ethnic and Multicultural Information Exchange Round Table.

 

Please note: We encourage families to purchase earmarked Museum Admission to this event in advance as space is limited. Any remaining, day-of tickets will be issued to Museum visitors on a first come-first served basis.
