    Online General Admission Terms & Conditions: Visitors who purchase online general admission tickets may have to wait  in lines within the museum, including coat check or entrance to special exhibitions. By purchasing , you are agreeing to pay the full admission of $21 for adults, $16 for seniors, $13 for high school or college students, and $6 for kids from 5 -13 years of age.  Discounts and vouchers cannot be applied through online sales.  Please see a representative at the admissions desk to purchase discounted tickets. Online general admission tickets are valid for one year after the date of purchase.  All sales are final and payments cannot be refunded. 

     

    Please note: These sales do NOT grant admission to the upcoming exhibition Harry Potter: A History of Magic, opening October 5, 2018. Tickets for that exhibition are available at harrypotter.nyhistory.org. Tickets will go on sale to the general public in April 2018.

    Take a stroll through history with your little one! Grownups and their children (up to age 3) will explore America's past, present, and future in this lively and interactive tour! Our early childhood educator will lead you and your child on an exploration of art, history, and creativity -- all before the museum opens for the day. Singing, movement, texture exploration, and art making in the galleries will make for a memorable morning.

    Camp History: The Four Freedoms: WWII to Today

    Session 1: August 13 - 17; 9 am – 4 pm

    Session 2: August 20 - 24; 9 am – 4 pm

    $600 per Camper ($550 per Member Camper)

    Rising 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students only

     

    Calling all middle school artists and historians! This summer, campers will go behind the scenes exploring the Museum’s summer exhibition Enduring Ideals: Rockwell, Roosevelt, & the Four Freedoms. Kids will explore the history behind Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms, Rockwell’s artistic interpretations of them, and examples throughout American history when those ideals have been tested. Campers will then create their own Four Freedoms poster series, to be displayed for family and friends at the end of each camp session.

    Whether you are a family reading or re-reading Harry Potter, join us to discuss the world of Hogwarts in these book club meet ups based on Pottermore’s Wizarding World Book Club. We’ll dig into themes such as friendship, competition, rebellion, and power; and we’ll share all we know about wandlore, magical creatures, and wizarding careers and more! The afternoon will include lively conversation with prompt questions from Pottermore Ponderings, such as “Harry Potter is famous but what makes him noteworthy?” Families will also get to take some fun book swag home, and after book club can head into Harry Potter: A History of Magic.

    Join us for our annual Hallowe’en extravaganza to experience the spookier side of history! Kids and their families summon the spirits of the past through Victorian-era fortune-telling, creepy crafts, and of course…candy! Activities and crafts will take place in the DiMenna Children’s History Museum and families will receive timed tickets to visit Harry Potter: A History of Magic during the party.

    Writing Historical Fantasy with Writopia Lab

    Young writers will dig into historical fantasy in these afternoon workshops led by the award winning Writopia Lab. Kids will hone their writing skills in these fun, engaging, and highly productive afternoons. Led by authors, kids will explore the world of historical fantasy writing through original and fun writing exercises, a visit to Harry Potter: A History of Magic, and in-depth feedback from the instructors. It is a true workshop in which students get to share their writing in a safe and supportive space, and they will learn how to give and receive insightful feedback. Students will join a community of young writers to find each other, connect via their literary passions, and have lots of fun.
